Our patented technology aims to solve the problems that are prevalent with traditional Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) systems. A traditional PRB is effectively a trench filled with permeable reactive treatment media (PRM). The trench is placed across the path of natural groundwater flow with the intent that contaminated groundwater will flow through the thickness of the wall.

Key components of the Ai-RS System include filter piles, replaceable treatment cartridges, and connected sheet piles. Each filter pile includes two vertically-offset screens, one on each side of the barrier. Contaminated groundwater flows in one screen, travels vertically through the filter pile and the installed treatment cartridge, and treated water flows out the opposite screen.
